Who we are
Studio Asarum is woman owned and operated. Our founder, Esther Forbyn studied painting and ceramics at California College of Arts and holds a BA in Environmental Studies-History from Reed College. Esther has studied at the Heartwood School of Timber Framing and Traditional Trades and has practiced woodworking in the Japanese tradition at Mokuchi Studio. Esther is a lifelong builder and environmental conservationist. Studio Asarum builds with the intention of living lightly and leaving the world a better place than we found it.
